The Wolf’s Lair
Wolf's Lair - Center for historical and natural education Natural surroundings and tourist routes
The ‘Wolf’s Lair’ is an unique tourist attraction on a European scale. Here, in his wartime headquarters, Hitler bent over a map to decide the fate of millions of people. And when he was forced to leave, he ordered that everything be demolished. But it proved impossible to fully des¬troy the giant bunkers. In this guidebook you will find plans of their location, what their purpose was as well as diagrams of how they were constructed. It also tells the story of those who lived and worked here, serving the Führer and fuelling his mania for greatness. You will find the details of the assassination attempt on Hitler carried out here. The guidebook contains almost 200 photographs, including archival ones. The convenient format and clear markings will come in handy when visiting this unique place. It owes its attractiveness to the Forestry Commission, which now takes care of it, focusing on both historical and nature education.
